Building Your Joomla Store

The Art of Selection and the Strength of Intuition

Building an e-commerce site on Joomla is like navigating an endless labyrinth. You find yourself asking: "Is Joomla really the right path? Should I have just followed the crowd to WordPress and WooCommerce?" Back in the Joomla 3.x era, we had choices like EShop, HikaShop, and J2Store. Yet, none felt truly tailored for our needs. We were left in the dark, guessing which extension would truly earn a customer's trust.

I once settled on J2Store because HikaShop felt too complex for my skills at the time. But as Joomla evolved to version 5, I faced the bitter reality of developers abandoning their projects. I nearly gave up. Instead, I spent six months rebuilding everything with HikaShop and Yootheme Pro. During this time, I encountered a LINE Pay plugin in the HikaShop marketplace. Despite it being localized in Japanese, I followed my gut and rejected it because I personally disliked the platform.。

That intuition proved to be a lifesaver. With LINE Pay set to terminate in April 2025 and merge into PayPay, my rejection of the service ensured the long-term stability of my system. Trusting your instincts over "convenient" features is a vital shield for any developer.

The future of store management isn't about spending infinite money on every available gateway. It’s about strategic selection within a limited budget. You must identify what is essential—like Apple Pay for global trust—while coldly rejecting what is unnecessary or misaligned with your philosophy. This "selective thinking" is what creates a professional, secure, and dignified store.

Ultimately, choose paid versions from developers who are committed to frequent updates. Trust your own judgment, and let your unique standards be the compass that guides your business through the changing tides of technology.
