It seems that Joomla!4 has been born

| Alaudae.JP

Is it due to the intense heat and heavy rain in the summer of 2021?

I often end up in bed sick and have trouble getting work done.

Under such circumstances, major version Joomla 4.0 was released on August 17, 2021.
I was looking forward to it, so I temporarily stopped other work, installed Joomla 4.0, and tried it out.

This is my first time installing Joomla4.
The overall UI has been updated, but it is basically the same as Joomla 3, and once you get used to it, you won't feel any discomfort.

Even if you want to upgrade your current Joomla to 3.10 and make it Joomla 4.0, you have to be careful here.
First of all, there are very few extensions that are compatible with Joomla 4.0, and many of the extensions that are used are not yet compatible with Joomla 4.0, and even if they are, there are many reports of problems and failures in the community.

Alternatively, the data that was originally removed by the update may remain and cause errors or bugs, so it cannot be updated carelessly. Additionally, the vendor has announced that users should wait at least two weeks before updating, and while they will try it out through tests and demos, they will have to wait and see if the website is currently running.

Also, it is difficult to translate the extension into Japanese because there are extensions that require retranslation from the beginning.
(I already spent several days retranslating one extension.)
So, to be honest, I'm worried that there will be a lot of troublesome work involved in migrating.

By the way, Joomla! is the third-largest CMS in the world as of August 2021, surpassed by Shopify.
It can no longer be called the next CMS after WordPress! !

However, I hope that once Joomla4 becomes stable in the future, its value for use in web construction will increase.
In the end, I think it's important to build the web that you want to use!
