I tried iPhone mirroring on macOS Sequoia! [Can it be done with iPhone 11 Pro?]

| Alaudae.JP

With the arrival of macOS Sequoia, working with a Mac has become even more convenient! There are many new features, but this time I tried out one that looked particularly interesting, "iPhone Mirroring," so I'd like to report on it.

What is iPhone mirroring?

Simply put, iPhone mirroring is a function that displays the iPhone screen on your Mac. You can do things on your iPhone on your Mac screen, so you can check messages sent on your iPhone on your Mac.

What you need to try iPhone mirroring

To use iPhone mirroring, the following conditions must be met:

Mac: A Mac with Apple Silicon or a Mac with the Apple T2 Security Chip running macOS Sequoia 15 or later.
iPhone: iOS 18 or later.
Apple ID: Your iPhone and Mac must be signed in with the same Apple ID with two-factor authentication enabled.
Network: Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are turned on on your iPhone and Mac.

Verification results in my environment

This time, I tried iPhone mirroring using a slightly older model, the iPhone 11 Pro.

Failure example: Using a different Apple ID

If you use different Apple IDs on your iPhone and Mac, iPhone mirroring will fail because the system requirements require you to be signed in with the same Apple ID.

Success example: Using the same Apple ID

If you use the same Apple ID on your iPhone and Mac, iPhone mirroring is successful! You will be prompted to unlock your iPhone, so just follow the instructions to connect and start mirroring easily.

Benefits of iPhone Mirroring

Enjoy your iPhone on your Mac screen: Enjoy your iPhone screen on your Mac screen.
Check notifications: Get notified of messages and emails on your iPhone right on your Mac.
Control your iPhone: Use your Mac's keyboard and mouse to control your iPhone.
Music playback: Play music stored on your iPhone through your Mac's speakers.

summary

macOS Sequoia's iPhone mirroring is a very useful feature. It will greatly improve your work efficiency, especially for those who use multiple devices. However, it is only available on relatively new Macs and iPhones. Also, please note that you must be signed in with the same Apple ID.
If you have a Mac and iPhone that meet the requirements, please give it a try.
