Knocked Out by a Cold

| Alaudae.JP

At the end of February, I felt a sore throat, and despite thinking it couldn't be, I ended up bedridden until recently due to a cold.

I've been living a life free from colds for over ten years, but it seems I've paid the price. I was hit with daily sore throats, body numbness, and an overall heavy feeling, and before I knew it, I was bedridden.

When I was healthy, sweating it out would have helped me recover quickly, but now, sweating itself worsens the pain and numbness, so that wasn't an option. This vicious cycle continued, and I haven't fully recovered yet. However, with the piled-up work in front of me, I've started to gradually resume what I can do from yesterday.

What I felt from this cold was its cunningness, as if it reflects modern society. It gradually saps your strength, as if exploiting your weaknesses.

Come to think of it, modern society might be the same. We are chased by a constant stream of information and tasks, moving without a break. In such a situation, a sudden illness feels like a trap set by society. This cold reminded me of the importance of resting properly when you're weak.

Please take care of your health. And if you do get sick, please don't push yourself and rest well.
