In 2025, have web ads become "spam"? A comment on the current state of SNS

| Alaudae.JP

Currently, when using the Internet, we are exposed to a large amount of web ads every day. Covering the operating costs of a website with advertising revenue is certainly an effective method. However, the current situation in which the revenue model is based on **"a constant stream of false advertising"** is nothing short of upside down.

Japan's major sites are no exception to advertising inducements

In fact, many major sites and media sites in Japan are in a situation where they cannot avoid being directed to ads in order to read web articles. When you are prompted to click and have no choice but to open it, the content displayed is almost 100% unreliable. Why did this happen?

The answer is quite simple. It is nothing but the result of the ad delivery side running after short-term profits and neglecting to check the content of the ads. This problem has been going on for more than ten years. Users rarely receive useful ads, and web ads that prioritize short-term profits are rampant.

Alaudae.JP opposed this situation and completely eliminated web advertising. I am now convinced that my initial decision was not wrong.

The proliferation of false advertising on SNS and irresponsible management

However, when I look at the current state of SNS these days, I am simply astonished. Under the pretense that users can use SNS for free, there is a flood of false advertising.

What's even more serious is that even if users have trouble with false advertising, the SNS side does not hold them responsible at all. Despite the existence of troublesome community regulations, terms of use, and policies, the reality is that when it comes to it, they just get around it with vague solutions.

The worst of Facebook and the "recommended" advertising problem

Facebook is especially bad. It displays ads and articles that you don't want to see as "recommended". These are made to look like they can be changed in "Settings and Privacy", but in reality there are restrictions on changing the settings, and it is impossible to change the settings to ones that users can use with confidence. I want to connect with the people I follow, but all I see every day are people I don't follow and don't know at all.

I personally don't like the structure of Facebook itself, so I never wanted to use it from the beginning. However, many people who want to know and get involved use Facebook, so I have no choice but to use it. That's why I would like to state that 99% of the web ads sent out on Facebook in Japan are scams.

Facebook has no intention of correcting this situation and is making a profit from it, so it's like they are helping with the scam. Even if Facebook sues me for the contents of this article, I have no intention of deleting or correcting it.

As of June 8, 2025, I want to tell everyone that the web ads delivered by Facebook are making a fool of users to that extent. There is no doubt that Facebook's existence is one of the reasons for the increase in scams in Japan.
