Thoughts on Joomla! Japan and the Importance of Modern Versions
Let’s be real:
What is the point of "Joomla! JAPAN" (joomla.jp) anymore? It’s time to stop treating it like a valid resource.
1. An "Official" Site That’s Just Noise
They post release notes, but everything else is prehistoric. The templates are ancient, the forums are gone, and it offers zero real value. When an "official" site acts as nothing more than a glorified RSS feed, it misleads newcomers and hinders the growth of the modern Joomla! ecosystem.
The Current Roadmap (February 2026):
・Joomla! 6.0.2: The latest stable version to use for new projects.
・Joomla! 5.x: The essential "Bridge Version" designed to help you migrate smoothly to version 6.
・Joomla! 4.x: Support officially ended in October 2025.
Using legacy versions like 1.x or 3.x is risky. They often break under modern PHP environments and lack critical security updates. Staying outdated can lead to the "White Screen of Death," potential hacking, or even being blacklisted by search engines. If you're on 4.x or older, now is a great time to use the bridge provided by 5.x and move to the secure world of 6.x.
